Quad SLIC Connects Four Telephone Sets
Available from Silver Telecom is the Ag1400 Quad SLIC which connects four voice or data
channels to four telephone lines. Packaged in a single in line format for insertion into a
72 pin SIMM socket the AG1400 provides extremely high packing density in line card
applications.
Working from a single 5V system side power supply, the AG1400 features intelligent power-down
on a per channel basis. This individually places each SLIC into a standby mode, to minimise
power supply cost, whilst still detecting the off hook condition. Power consumption is typically
less than 50mW per channel.
On hook transmission is supported for Caller Line ID applications and 12/16kHz meter pulses can
be injected onto the line for call billing. Battery reversals can be applied to the telephone line to
support a range of signaling schemes.
The AG1400 can work on very long as well as short lines, with loop current and off hook detection
thresholds being programmed by the user. The device can work with a switchable battery supply
to reduce power dissipation on short lines. These features make the AG1400 configurable to a
wide range of applications.
Device protection is provided by "Soft Shutdown" circuitry which reduces the line
current to limit power dissipation whilst allowing the circuit to remain functional.
Applications include Computer Telephony Integration, PABX, Central Office, Fibre to the Curb,
Wireless Local Loop and Line Concentrators.
